Coming up with social media content can be daunting. But we have a few simple ideas to help you get started!
Carousel Posts
Carousel posts and ads are my second favourite method, next to videos ?. Research from Social Insider shows that carousels achieve an average engagement rate of 1.92%, compared to 1.45% for standalone video posts and 1.74% for single images. What’s even more interesting, though, is the spread of engagement across each post, depending on how many images (slides) are in the carousel.
Carousels with 10 slides have the highest engagement rate, which may be surprising to some, especially considering users have more swipes to complete to see all the content. Yet despite their benefits, just 6% of carousels take advantage of all 10 slides.
Here are some great examples of creative ways my client and I have used carousel posts:

Work-Life
Showing your everyday work life will show your audience the “human” side of your company. It will allow your audience to get a glimpse into your everyday life and help people establish your company with real people!
When dealing with LinkedIn and Facebook, I find these posts do well organically. People like to see other people when they are on social media platforms. That is what most of these platforms are for, to show your life!
If your staff are going on a night out, you’re celebrating someone’s birthday in the office, or you’re all going to an event, take pictures and post about it!
Customer Reviews
Customer reviews demonstrate to your audience that people have purchased your product or service already and had nothing but good things to say! You can create text graphics or, even better, video testimonials! If you can get your hands on video testimonials, these are FANTASTIC for ad use!!
Meet The Team
This is a great idea as it shows your audience the people behind your business. When creating “Meet the team” posts, add facts about what they do and their expertise, but also have some fun with them! Tell your audience if Sally from accounting loves to chill at home with her daughter and her cat ‘muffin’ on a Saturday night watching Stranger Things!
Behind The Scene
Different from work-life – behind the scenes should be geared towards producing video content, showing your audience how things work behind the scenes. You can break this up into different segments – Meeting about product ideas – How it’s made – How it’s packed etc.
How-To & Educational Content
How-to & Educational content is very popular on social media. Giving your audience free and valuable knowledge will not only demonstrate your expertise and product but will help gain the trust of future customers! You can create video content or use a carousel, like the example below!

Getting Creative
When posting on Instagram, Pinterest & TikTok, you need to remember these platforms are visual, creative platforms. Keep up with what is trending, such as songs, challenges, voiceovers, and transitions and create content that works with your products!
Come up with creative GIFs and videos that display your product, and just have fun! Test out anything that comes to mind, and don’t overthink it!
Blog Content
Blogs are pretty important – not only are they shareable among your social media platforms, but they also help strengthen your website’s SEO and add searchable content for people to find!
Curated Content
Curated content works for LinkedIn, Facebook & Twitter, sharing content related to your industry that you think your audience will find interesting and beneficial! Don’t forget when using curated content to ensure your copy, give your option on the topic and ask questions – try and start a conversation with your audience!
Memes & GIFs
I am telling you, some of the best engagement comes from funny memes & GIFs. People love humour! You don’t need to be all business all the time. Show your humorous side!
Products & Services
Of course, make social media content focused on your product and service, and inform people how to purchase! Just make sure you are being creative when making your content. Video content will usually always do better, but don’t think you need flashy, expensive video content. If you have a good iPhone, you’re good to go!
Contest Post
Contests & Giveaways are THE BEST to reach new audiences and get amazing engagement! Just make sure your prize is YOUR PRODUCT! Do not give away an iPhone if you are selling eco-friendly make-up; people interested in an iPhone may have zero interest in your product! But if your prize is your product, then you know people who have entered have an interest in you!
Another idea, if you can, is to team up with another company, and you both post your giveaway with prizes from both of you! Again make sure this company is related to your industry. For example, if your company sells eco-friendly, vegan make-up, then maybe you want to team up with a clothing company that uses only recyclable material!
These are some content ideas I hope will get you started! The key is trying different content strategies until you find one that works for your business!
